Top Things to Know and Do BEFORE an Earthquake
1 Practice “DROP, COVER, AND HOLD ON” with your whole family, and protect your heads!	2 Know safe spots (like under tables, or doorframes) and hazardous spots (like shelves, stuffed garages, and under trees) in your home.
3 Arrange your furniture so that every room has at least one safe spot, away from windows.	4 Bolt all tall furniture, like bookcases, to the wall using wall studs from a local hardware store.
5 Have an out-of-town friend or family member with whom you can stay afterwards.	6 Learn how to turn off your gas in case authorities request you to do so (remember—never turn it back on by yourself!).
7 Expect aftershocks!
