3. Take care of others next

1
Take a CERT class: It’s free. It’s entertaining.
It’s immensely informative. The Ojai Valley’s fate will depend on CERT graduates in an emergency.
|
2
Prepare a Disaster Kit containing enough supplies for your household to survive 3 days without help.
Or order one online here.
|
3
You may be asked by authorities to turn off your gas, water, or electricity. Learn how to do this by taking a CERT class.
|
4
Identify two or three places for your family to reunite
in case you cannot reunite
at your home or
in your neighborhood.
|
5
Print PDFs available on this site so that you can refer to
it even if the internet is
down in an emergency.
|
6
Know which friends and family members you can call to check in with (during a disaster, it will be easer to call people who live out of state). Give everyone in your family their numbers.
|
7
Once a year, buy fresh emergency food and water for your kit, replace the batteries in your smoke detectors, and review
your disaster plan with
all family members.
